Out of the 6 skills of an event organiser the two best I think I am good at are the communication side of the project, and problem solving. Communication skills are an everyday skill in life it is also the ability to convey or share ideas and feelings effectively. Problem solving is also an everyday skill in life, we don’t know when we use it however we use it all of the time. It is analytical or logical thinking of ordering, comparing, contrasting, evaluating and selecting.
I think I am a good communicator and was through out of the whole project. I think this because skills of a good communicator consist of; listening, friendliness, confidence and respect. Sometime within the project I portrayed these skills. For example, I was listening to my peer’s ideas to further excel within the project and get new thoughts, also I listening to my teachers in case I done anything wrong and instead of talking back I listened and improved.
I showed friendliness within the project by not arguing with my peers and keeping a positive attitude and vibe, so is good so there is not a bad mood so everyone can work within a happy atmosphere. Furth more, have good communication skills you need to have confidence. You need to have confidence to be a good communicator as you might have to talk to people that you have never met before, and you need to be confident. I showed confidence in my project by speaking to my head teacher about the project.
Lastly, you have to show respect showing respect is an everyday role in life. I showed respect within my project by taking advice, I showed this as I could have answered back and not taken the advice however, I took the advice on board listened and improved. This shows how I am a good communicator as I have matched the skills of being a good communicator and showed times when I have used that skill.
The second thing I think I am good at is problem solving. Problem solving is the analytical or logical thinking of ordering, comparing, contrasting, evaluating and selecting. To be a good problem solver you need to able to cast your ego aside, remain objective, identify the opportunity and break down silos. During this event I have casted my ego aside as I have not gotten ahead of myself and remained humble.
Furthermore, I have remained objective I can show this the completion of the event, this shows that I have remained objective because otherwise I would of lost track of the event and not completed it. Also, you have to identify the opportunity what I mean by this is if there is chance to expand take it, don’t rush however make sure you know when there is a chance to improve. Lastly, you have to be able to break down silos, what I mean by this is you have to be able to break down communication barriers. I have shown this in my project as some people are not comfortable to speak to new people and I just made it easier for them.
