On May 9, 1994, Nelson Mandela was introduced as the first democratically chosen President of South Africa, he was elected by most of the nation’s citizens. Nelson Mandela, who spent 27 years of his life as a prisoner of the South American government wanted to give an informative speech how his life was over the past 27 years he has spent in prison. It was an appropriate time to give this speech because May 9, 1994 was a very special day for him, he was becoming president of South Africa and the people have to know that he fought for freedom for his entire life and Mandela didn’t give up right away he always dreams big so it was the right time to deliver his speech so the nation of the people can know what to expect from their new leader. Nelson Mandela gave this speech to let everyone know that South Africa has struggled to cope with the discrimination they were facing, and he has told his people to fight for their rights. Nelson Mandela has promised that the constitutional, democratic, political order, regardless of color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, the law will provide equal protection of all citizens.
