Media Influences
Media Influences has left an overpowering impact on the concept of media influences. The Media effects the public and societies by sharing news that comes with an outlook with a perspective that is positive or negative. People of all ages are or have been influenced by the media. Young people for the most part has been influenced by the media. Young teenagers have been deeply influenced to despairingly imitate fashionable and glamourous role models that they perceive in the media. Since the media has had a great impact on peoples lives, it has affected many people mentally and health wise. Young teenagers and youth have developed low self-esteem, psychological difficulties, and eating disorders. Opposed media influences can twist the benefit and deeds that can lead to steering youth into the right direction. The media has both a positive and a negative influence that Is impacted on people. The media can make a person become more alert of what is happening on a global, national, and local level. It is amazing how the media has the potential power to ruin the society by supporting fallacious perfections, praising egotism and building ownership of fame, fortune, and the gift of suitableness in order to be considered a valuable person.
Television is also a considerable influence on adults and young children and teenagers. Television has the prospective to give rise to positive and negative effects. Spending a lot of time in front of a television can limit a child from being able to do essential activities like playing outside with friends or pet, reading educational books, learning to socialize and talk with others around them, spending time family and friends, and exercising. The amount of time in front of a television can be limited by a parent. According to the article “Impact of Media use on Children and Youth “by the U.S National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health states, ” The average child watches nearly 14 hours of television each week. By his or her high school graduation, the average teen will have spent more time watching television than in the classroom”. Children are able to watch educational tv shows that will educate them and teach them good things for them to know and to use in their everyday routine. Young children have the capacity to learn things quickly. Movies, television, and media can encourage children, teenagers and adults into spending money on things can affect their lives. Not only can the media influence people to spend money, it can influence them to do wrong things. An example could be drug use, if a child or a teenager is hooked onto watching a certain tv show that contains drug use constantly, the child or teenager will believe that it is the right to do and consume.

A survey was created with the help of survey monkey to help collect the results of many people that use the media in their everyday routine. Asking family and friends how much time they spend in front of the television watching tv, the percentage result was that 85% of people whom participated in the survey have said to spend 10 hours plus watching television or going on social media. Social media has become a great influence on teenagers over the past few years. Social networking apps like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and twitter are overly used by teenagers over the last few decades. According to the article ” How Using Social Media Affects Teenagers ” by Rachel Ehmke states, ” Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram all led to increased feelings of depression, anxiety, poor body image, and loneliness”. Teenagers believe that just because they see a picture of a celebrity or artist on social media they have to look like them physically wise and act like them. Teenagers and children shouldn’t have the feel to need to change their personality and physical image to be like someone they don’t really know in person , but because they see them on social media. When you first think about media influence what comes to mind is that you will get to socialize with people, get to know them, or even build relationships with the new people you meet. Now media influence isn’t all about getting to meet new people and build relationships, the media now in these days to spread rumors about people, spreading fake news, and influencing people into doing the wrong thing.
Media influence can get to the extent as to where adults and children can get mentally damaged challenged because of so much they see on the internet. Most of the things seen on the internet aren’t accurate and true. The internet wants to make people believe things that aren’t true become true. This is why most of the time the internet makes people believe things by persuading and promoting to get the attention of the audience. The media has made a really great impact on society that now makes people want to change who they are physically. Physical attraction isn’t really necessary in the media influencing. The media and social influences give the courage for teenagers to become someone they really aren’t just to fit into society and or to be more valuable into the society they live in. To media influencing there’s a positive and a negative.
