The ancient Greeks contributed their achievements of philosophy and politics to help develop ideas in the Western civilization.
The ancient Greeks contributed philosophically to many ideas of the western civilization. The philosophers developed ideas about their own view of life. In document 1, one of the philosophers Socrates had quoted that “The unexamined life is not worth living.” This means that a life you haven’t examined, or a life you’re not familiar with shouldn’t even be lived, because human reason is what’s most “godlike” in human nature according to Aristotle, a philosopher. This was quoted by Aristotle in document 2. He said “Since human reason is the most godlike part of human nature, a life guided by human reason is superior to any other…” This means that a life guided by a human’s reasons is the most important part of human nature, because a human’s reason is what brings them to understand everything around them. These contributions by the ancient Greeks built up to ideas of the Western civilization.
The ancient Greeks also contributed politically to ideas of the western civilization.
